Media file conversion can get quite complicated, what with all the formats and codecs you can use, especially if you don’t know which are supported or suitable for specific devices.

IM Video Converter is a relatively straightforward conversion app with some limited editing capabilities. It allows you to easily convert videos and audio files to formats playable on various types of smartphones, but it is not suitable for high-resolution content and newer devices.

If the app has one thing going for it, it’s an intuitive approach to processing files. Just drop your clips and songs in the main window, one or several at a time, and convert them all in one big batch.

You can select your preferred file format, codec resolution, frame rate, and so on, but you don’t need to. If you just want to keep things simple, presets are available for various models of iOS devices and Android phones, but they are very limited in number.

Sadly, unless you’re still rocking a very old iPhone or Android, IM Video Converter won’t be of much use. It only has presets up to the iPhone 5, with another intended for newer models but still very outdated.

Of course, the presets are customizable, but your resolution, frame rate, and bit rate options are very limited. They only go up to 1080p, 30 fps, and 6000 bit rate, which makes the app unsuitable for processing modern, high-quality videos.

Ultimately, while the app still seems to be receiving updates, it’s only ever going to be useful if you need to convert videos to lower quality versions, or if you somehow happen to still have a functional iPhone 5 or iPad 2. Otherwise, you have many better options available, many available free of charge.
