Icon2Image

Icon2Image is a handy plug-in that helps you turn file, folder, and disk icons into images. With this tool, you can convert any image format that your QuickTime version supports. It’s super easy to use!

Easy Installation and Use

Once you get the plug-in installed (don’t worry, we’ll share installation steps below), all you have to do is Control-click on items in the Finder. If you're wondering what Control-click means, it's just holding down the control key while clicking on an item with your mouse.

After that, a menu will pop up. Just pick the menu item that matches the name of the image file you want to create, and boom! The conversion starts.

Your Images Are Organized

Your new images will be saved in a special folder called Icon2Image, which gets created in your Documents folder at home. If you want to access these images quickly, there’s even a menu item called 'Go to Icon2Image folder...' that makes it simple!

Menu Items Explained

When you look at the menu below 'Go to Icon2Image folder...', each option shows the name of the image file created along with some info about its file type (thanks to QuickTime).

For instance, if you choose Desktop.bmp (BMP) from the sample menu we mentioned earlier, Icon2Image will generate a BMP image named Desktop.bmp inside your Icon2Image folder in Documents.

Your Menu Might Look Different

Just a heads up: your menu could appear slightly different depending on what QuickTime compressors are installed on your Mac. But no worries—it still works just as great!
