iBackupMounter is a super handy tool for Mac users. It scans your drive for iOS backups and mounts them right in your file system. This makes it super easy to check out what's in those backups, plus you can extract or delete files whenever you need.

How iBackupMounter Works

Whenever you connect your iOS device to your Mac using the iTunes app, you have a couple of choices. You can manage its content or back up everything onto your drive. This way, you won't ever lose important stuff like contacts, messages, media files, or app settings!

Scanning for Backups

As soon as you launch iBackupMounter, it gets right to work by scanning your drive for any iTunes backups. It automatically mounts them so you can browse through the backup content easily using Finder.

Main Window Features

The main window of iBackupMounter shows the date and time of the backup you're currently looking at, along with the device name and the last connected mobile or WiFi networks.

Troubleshooting Contacts and Messages

You might expect to see detected contacts and messages in iBackupMounter, but during our tests, it didn’t show this info even though the backup had the data included.

Edit Mode Options

This app typically works in read-only mode. That means you can view files but not mess with them. If you want to change that, just check the box in the main window to enable editing.

Copying and Deleting Files

If you've enabled editing, iBackupMounter will remount your iOS backup so that now you can copy files to different spots or delete them if needed. Just remember to save any changes before unmounting!
