iBackupMounter is a handy tool for your Mac that helps you find and manage your iOS backups easily. It scans your drive to locate those backups and mounts them in your file system. This means you can check out what's inside, extract files, or even delete stuff if you want!

How Does iBackupMounter Work?

When you plug in your iOS device to your Mac through the iTunes app, you get two main options: manage the content or back up everything to your drive. This way, you can keep all your important stuff safe—like contacts, messages, media files, and app settings.

Easy Access to Your Backups

As soon as you open iBackupMounter, it quickly scans for any iTunes backups on your drive and mounts them automatically. You can then browse all the backup content right in a Finder window—super easy!

User-Friendly Main Window

The main window of iBackupMounter shows you useful info like the date and time of the backup currently mounted, along with the device name and what networks it last connected to. Pretty neat, huh?

Checking Your Contacts and Messages

You’d think this app would show your contacts and messages too. Unfortunately, during our tests, it didn’t display that info even when we had backups with data included. But hey, that’s tech for you!

Read-Only Mode and Making Changes

I should mention that by default, iBackupMounter runs in read-only mode. This means you can look at the files but not change them. If you'd like to make changes, just tick a box in the main window to disable this feature.

Copying or Deleting Files Made Easy

If you do decide to make changes by disabling read-only mode, remember that you'll have to mount the backup again. After that, you're free to copy files elsewhere or delete them! Just don’t forget to save those changes before unmounting.
