What is a Handpan?

The hang drum, also known as a handpan, is a percussion instrument that produces a soothing rhythm sound. Constructed from two half-shells of deep drawn, nitrided steel sheet glued together, the handpan creates a distinct 'UFO shape'. The topside, 'Ding,' features a center note and tone fields, while the bottom side, 'Gu,' has a plain surface with a hole for striking the rim.
