Description

GTKRawGallery is an open source, freely distributed, easy-to-use, modern, and multiplatform graphical software that has been created from the ground up to act as an image viewer and editor, with support for camera RAW files. In other words, it’s a workflow oriented image processing utility for all GNU/Linux and Windows operating systems.

Key features include a modern and intuitive graphical user interface image that boasts a dark theme, browsing functionality, image management functionality, batch conversion with styles, fast tagging, color management, batch processing, 16 bit/channel post-processing support, as well as image printing support.

The application comes with a feature-rich DcRaw GUI (Graphical User Interface) that allows for a fine-tuned RAW image development, supports uploading of image files to Dropbox, Flickr, Facebook, and Picasa, and provides an advanced metadata editor that supports writing of EXIF, XMP, and IPTC metadata.

The software supports some of the most used image formats, including jpg, tiff, png, xpm, xbm, gif, ico, cur, ppm, pbm, pgm, pnm, pcx, bmp, svg, svgz, svg.gz, ras, tga, targa, wmf, apm, and wbmp. Among the supported camera RAW formats, we can mention cr2, nef, crw, raf, kdc, dcr, mrw, orf, ptx, pef, arw, srf, x3f, erf, and dng.

While taking a quick look under the hood of the GTKRawGallery project, we’ve noticed that is has been written entirely in Python, using the GTK+ GUI toolkit and PyGTK for its graphical user interface. It also requires the PIL (Python Imaging Library), DcRaw, and libglade software.

Being written in Python, GTKRawGallery can be successfully used under any GNU/Linux distribution, as well as on the Microsoft Windows operating systems. Supported hardware platforms include 32 and 64-bit.
