Go4Launch is a super handy tool for your Mac. It's really easy to add Login Items in Mac OS X, right? These are the programs that start up when you log in. But what if you want to run a shell script at startup without having to log in? That’s where things can get tricky.
You can use launchd to do this, but let me tell you, it’s not exactly user-friendly! You’ll need to create a special directory with specific permissions and set up both a .plist file and a .sh file in the right spots with the correct settings. Sounds complicated, doesn’t it?
This is where Go4Launch comes into play! With just one click, it sets everything up for you. It automatically creates a directory called /Library/BootScripts
, makes the necessary .plist file in /Library/LaunchDaemons
, and even prepares a “template” Shell Script (.sh) for you.
The best part? With another click, you can easily edit that .sh file and add any commands you want. No more headaches trying to figure out permissions or directories!
