What is GnuTLS FOR LINUX?

GnuTLS

GnuTLS is a free, open-source software project that creates a Transport Layer Security (TLS) library for GNU/Linux systems. It adds a secure layer on top of a reliable transport layer, following the standards set by the IETF's TLS working group.

Support for Security Protocols

This project covers various security protocols. You get support for multiple versions of TLS: TLS 1.2, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.0. Plus, it also works with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL 3.0) and Datagram TLS.

Authentication Methods

When it comes to authentication, GnuTLS has got your back! It supports both X.509 and OpenPGP certificates. You can also use key and password methods like PSK (Phase-shift Keying) and SRP (Secure Remote Password).

Advanced Cryptographic Features

The software isn't just about basic security; it also supports advanced features! This includes DSA and RSA algorithms, elliptic curves, and OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol). Plus, if you have CPU-assisted cryptography needs, GnuTLS utilizes AES-NI and VIA padlock instruction sets.

Cryptographic Tokens Support

For those using smart cards or other cryptographic tokens, GnuTLS offers native support via PKCS #11. It even works with the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and includes all strong encryption algorithms like Camellia and AES.

Compatibility Across Systems

You'll be happy to know that GnuTLS has been tested on many Linux kernel-based operating systems! It's compatible with all GNU/Linux versions and can run on both 32-bit or 64-bit computers.

Easy Installation

The best part? You can find GnuTLS on all major distributions of GNU/Linux! Just grab it from their official software repositories. If you want the latest version, you can easily download GnuTLS here!
