GIPHY Capture (which used to be called GifGrabber) is a super user-friendly app that helps you grab snippets from any video playing on your Mac. This makes it super easy to create fun animated GIFs!

Simple and Intuitive Design

The app has a really straightforward interface. You can easily choose the area you want to record for your GIF. Just click and drag the corners of the capture window to get the size you want.

Easy Size Adjustments

You’ll see the current width and height of your capture in the bottom right corner of the main window. This way, you can make quick adjustments if needed. To start or stop recording, just hit the “Start/Stop Capture” button or use a keyboard shortcut (cmd + shift + S).

Flexible Window Positioning

You can move the main window anywhere on your screen, so it lines up perfectly with whatever video you’re watching. And if you need more space on your desktop, you can minimize GifGrabber into your Dock until you're ready to use it again.

Easily Access Your GIFs

All the GIFs you create show up in a menu in the status bar, making it super easy to find them when you want to view or share one. Plus, there's a handy GIF Viewer that lets you adjust size settings and check out details like width, height, and file size.

Trim Your GIFs with Ease

If you need to cut down your GIF, GIPHY Capture lets you set new start and end frames. You can even preview everything before saving it to your Mac’s hard drive.

Sharing Made Simple

Once you're happy with your creation, sharing is a breeze! You can publish your animated GIF on Gifsicle.com, which is GIPHY Capture's own sharing site. It’s perfect for showing off to friends, family, and coworkers!

A Small Limitation

A quick note: GIPHY Capture can't capture your Mac's Dock or menu bar, so making GIFs from those icons isn't possible. But don’t worry! The app still gives you a fantastic way to create animated GIFs from any video that plays on your Mac.
