Ghostnote is a handy little OS X app that makes keeping your notes super easy! You can attach notes right to any document, folder, application, or webpage. This way, all your important info is right where you need it.
The Ghostnote interface is pretty minimalist. You’ll see a small status bar panel that lets you quickly type in your text snippets or make lists. Plus, you can even add checkboxes! What’s really cool is that this note panel isn’t stuck in one place; you can detach it and resize it however you want!
When you first launch Ghostnote, it’ll ask you to install some extra scripts. These scripts help link your notes to the documents you're working on. If you're curious about how these scripts work, check them out on the project’s GitHub page.
Using Ghostnote is a breeze! Just pick the document or folder where you want to add your note and click the app’s icon in the status bar. Type away in the panel and watch as your note saves automatically!
If you ever need to get rid of a note, just delete the text from the Ghostnote panel. Oh, and when you select an item that has a note attached? The app will give you a little alert sign on its icon. It’s like having a friendly reminder right there!
You can also set up Ghostnote to automatically export each note either as an RTF file or straight to your Evernote account. And if you're all about shortcuts, there’s even an option for creating a global shortcut so you can access the Ghostnote panel without lifting your fingers off the keyboard!
The best part? Since each note is tied directly to its context, there's no more wasting time hunting down specific entries. The design of Ghostnote makes it really comfy to use in lots of different situations.
