What is GGet FOR LINUX?

GGet

GGet is a handy download manager designed for the GNOME desktop. If you're looking to get things downloaded quickly, this is the tool for you!

How to Install GGet

Getting GGet up and running is pretty simple. Here’s how you do it:

  1. First step: Open your terminal and cd into the directory where you have the package’s source code. Then, type ./configure. This command sets everything up for your system. If you’re on an old version of System V using csh, just type sh ./configure. This way, it won’t try to run configure itself.

  2. The wait: Running configure might take some time. You’ll see messages pop up that tell you what features are being checked.

  3. The magic: Next, type make. This compiles the package.

  4. If you want: Type make check. This will run any tests that come with the package to make sure everything works as it should.

  5. The final touch: To install GGet and all its files, type make install.

  6. Tidying up: After installation, if you want to clean up your source code directory, just type make clean. If you're switching computers or setups and want to remove everything created by configure too, use make distclean. There’s also a more advanced option called make maintainer-clean, but it's mainly for developers.
