Description
GenoViz
So, let’s talk about GenoViz. This software pack includes a cool project called IGB: the Integrated Genome Browser. It’s pretty neat!
What’s in the GenoViz Package?
The GenoViz project has three main parts:
- GenoViz SDK: This is like a toolkit full of reusable components that help with visualizing genomics data.
- Genometry: Think of this as a simple way to represent how biological sequences are connected. You’ll mainly see it in action with the Integrated Genome Browser.
- Integrated Genome Browser (IGB): Pronounced "ig-bee," this desktop app uses both the GenoViz SDK and Genometry. It’s great for exploring genes and genomes, plus it can handle big datasets, especially from genome tiling arrays.
How Does IGB Work?
The best part? IGB can show data from DAS (Distributed Annotation System) servers as well as local files right from your computer. So whether you’re pulling data from the cloud or your system, it’s all good!
A Quick Note About Licensing
NOTE: Just so you know, GenoViz is licensed and shared under the Common Public License 1.0. That means you can use it freely with some guidelines!
