Description
GenoViz
GenoViz is a cool software pack that comes with some neat tools for working with genome data. One of the big projects in this pack is called IGB, or the Integrated Genome Browser. Let’s break down what makes GenoViz so awesome!
What’s Included in GenoViz?
The GenoViz project has three main parts that work together:
- GenoViz SDK: This is a library filled with reusable components that help you visualize genomics data.
- Genometry: Think of this as a unified data model. It helps represent relationships between different biological sequences and is mainly used in the Integrated Genome Browser.
- Integrated Genome Browser (IGB): Pronounced “ig-bee,” this desktop app uses both the GenoViz SDK and Genometry. IGB lets you explore and visualize genes, genomes, and large genome-scale datasets, especially those from genome tiling arrays.
How Does IGB Work?
The great thing about IGB is that it can display data from DAS (Distributed Annotation System) servers as well as local files right from your computer! This means you can easily access and analyze your genomic data without any hassle.
Licensing Info
NOTE: Just a heads up, GenoViz is licensed and distributed under the terms of the Common Public License 1.0. So you know how to use it properly!
