GammUI is a user-friendly graphical interface for Gammu. Gammu is a command-line tool that helps you manage your phone using C programming and libGammu. With GammUI, you can easily back up your phonebook, calendar, and to-do list.
Getting started with GammUI is super simple! After a quick setup, you’ll find yourself in front of a clean window with everything laid out nicely. Just remember, you need to have Gammu installed on your computer first; otherwise, this tool won't work.
Once you've got GammUI running, the next step is to set up your phone connection. You can connect your phone to the computer via Bluetooth or infrared. Depending on how you want to connect, you'll need to choose the right connection protocol.
If you're using an old Nokia phone, for example, you can choose from several protocols like FBUS/DAU9P or DKU2. For other brands, AT commands will do the trick. You can also specify which port you'll be using.
After configuring the connection settings, it’s time to back up your data! You can save calendar entries, todo lists, or contacts stored in either your phone's internal memory or SIM card. Just pick where you want to save them on your hard drive and give it a filename before hitting start!
GammUI also lets you peek at what's on your phone before backing it up. You can check out your calendar events and contacts along with important details like the manufacturer and model of your device.
The downside? It looks like GammUI hasn’t received updates in a while and might not be actively developed anymore. But don’t worry! It still worked just fine during our tests on the latest version of Windows.
