Description

FreeMat is similar various commercial systems such as IDL from Research Systems, and MATLAB from Mathworks, but is Open Source.

FreeMat was developed to include features such as a codeless interface to external C/C++/FORTRAN code, parallel/distributed algorithm development, and advanced volume and 3D visualization capabilities.

Currently, FreeMat can be run on Mac OS X, Windows 2000/XP, and Linux platforms.

Some other UNIX environments like IRIX/SOLARIS may work as well.
