Getting Started with FontRegis

You will need administrative rights for FontRegis to work its magic. If you run the program without any extra commands, it'll automatically try to repair the font registry for you—how easy is that?

If you want to install a new font, just make sure its files are in the same folder as FontRegis. It supports various file types like FON, TTF, TTC, and OTF. To install the fonts, use either the /copy or /move switch. Not only does it copy or move your fonts into the C:\Windows\Fonts directory, but it also registers them so you can start using those snazzy new fonts right away!

Tidying Up Your Fonts

This nifty utility also cleans up unused font registrations to free up space on your hard drive. When repairing fonts, it looks at all file types except FON since those hidden registrations can be tricky.

The Purpose of FontRegis

The main goal of FontRegis is to replace that old fontreg.exe that came with Windows. One thing to note is that it doesn't show any messages while running—so don't panic if it seems silent; it's doing its job! Even though there haven't been updates in a while, our tests show that FontRegis still works great with newer versions like Windows 10.
