Folder Latch is a handy software tool that helps keep your files and folders safe. If you're worried about unauthorized access, this program can be a great solution!
The cool thing about Folder Latch is how simple it is. You just pick what you want to do—lock or unlock a folder. After that, select the folder you want to protect, type in your password, and confirm it.
If you're like me and sometimes forget passwords, you can add a hint to help jog your memory later on. Once that's done, choose how you want to protect the folder and hit “Protect” to encrypt it.
There's even a handy feature called "Verify Un-protection." This checks if you'll be able to unlock your folder later on—super helpful for peace of mind!
A quick heads-up: if you're trying to password-protect folders larger than 4 GB, there's a risk of losing them since the software can't guarantee their recovery. But don’t worry! You can split big folders into smaller ones if needed.
Folder Latch has two protection modes: "Real" and "Test/Media." The "Real" mode encrypts your folder into an SBX format that only Folder Latch can unlock. Meanwhile, "Test/Media" creates a copy of the folder and encodes it too—this way, you still have an unencrypted version around for easy access.
If you need to unencrypt a directory, just point out where it’s located on your drive. The program will quickly find all SBX files there. In just seconds, voilà! Your locked folder is back open for business!
Even with all these warnings it shows, Folder Latch is pretty user-friendly. It gives extra security measures which are super important when dealing with sensitive documents.
