Focusli is a handy tool for anyone trying to stay focused in our busy lives. With all the distractions around us, keeping our attention on work can be tough! Sometimes, just having some background noise can make a big difference. That’s where Focusli comes in.
This tiny GNOME Shell extension lets you play various ambient sounds right from your Linux status/menu bar. Imagine working with the soothing sound of rain or a cozy campfire crackling in the background—it really helps create a nice atmosphere!
Using Focusli is super simple. Once you install it, just click the icon on your menu bar and choose from six different sounds: Rain, Wind, Summer Night, Coffee Shop, Whitenoise, and Camp Fire. Each sound has its own volume slider so you can adjust them however you like.
If you want to mix things up even more, Focusli lets you layer multiple sounds together. You can combine as many as you want to create your perfect custom background noise! How cool is that?
The default sounds are great but maybe not enough for everyone. Luckily, if you're feeling creative, you can easily add new custom sounds by editing a file at ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[email protected]/sounds/database.json. It's pretty straightforward!
Now, let’s be real—this little extension won’t solve all your focus problems. But if you enjoy soft and repetitive background noises while working, Focusli is definitely worth trying out!
