Floorp is an interesting web browser that’s based on Firefox. Now, I have to admit, I wasn't always a huge fan of Firefox. But after using it for about ten years, I've learned to really appreciate it. It might not be the flashiest or have all the bells and whistles, but when it comes to privacy, Firefox is one of the best out there.
So, when I stumbled upon Floorp, I was pretty intrigued! This browser adds a bunch of cool features and customization options while still keeping the things we love about Firefox intact.
Here’s something cool: Floorp is fully open-source and created by a couple of students from Japan. It runs on the Firefox ESR program, and guess what? All the telemetry stuff from Firefox has been removed completely!
If you’re worried about security, Floorp has got you covered with automatic tracker blocking, cookie blocking, HTTPS-only mode, and pop-up blocking. Plus, it comes with uBlock Origin built right in for extra protection against ads!
Now let’s talk customization! One standout feature is its sidebar that helps you access bookmarks, downloads, history—pretty handy! If you’re not into sidebars, you can easily turn it off.
The interface is super modern because it's built with Microsoft Flutter. If you like smooth edges and a refined look for your apps, you’ll definitely enjoy this design.
Diving into the Settings will reveal tons of customization options. You can change themes or even make your browser look totally different! Want to switch up where your tabs sit? No problem! You can even add more rows for tabs or control them using mouse gestures.
I have to say that I really like Floorp. It feels like an upgraded version of Firefox without losing any of its charm. The design isn't cluttered at all; everything is neatly tucked away in the Settings section.
Sure, it could always use more features or speed improvements compared to other browsers—but honestly? It's already one of the best Firefox-based browsers I've tried! Who would’ve thought it came from two students in Japan? They really nailed it!
