Description

Five Cellular Automata

Five Cellular Automata is a cool little software that lets you dive into some fascinating cellular automata. You can explore five interesting types: an extended version of life called q-state Life, The Belousov-Zhabotinsky Reaction, Togetherness, Viral Replication, and Diffusion-Limited Aggregation.

Easy Installation and User-Friendly Interface

When we say simple, we mean it! Installing Five Cellular Automata is a breeze. The app's user interface might look a bit old-school, but it gets the job done. It has a compact main window that neatly organizes all the controls you need.

Getting Started with Your Experiments

Ready to jump in? To get started with Five Cellular Automata, just pick your desired automaton from the drop-down menu. Then enter the values and parameters for your experiment. Choose how many colors you want to see and hit the Start button at the bottom of the main window!

Customizing Your Parameters

You’ll notice that for each of these five automata, you can set the number of states to q. This is pretty neat because not only can you change the number of states, but there are also other parameters to play with! For instance, in the Togetherness automaton, you can adjust things like concentration percentage and selection range.

Diving Deeper into Viral Replication

If you're curious about the Viral Replication automaton, you'll find more cool settings to tweak! You can change up things like active infection rate percentage or base rate—and even the chance of cell division!

Helpful Resources at Your Fingertips

If you want to learn more about how to use this app effectively, there's a handy Help manual on the official website. Once you've got your simulation running smoothly, you can stop it when you're happy with how it looks. Just right-click on the animation panel to capture screenshots—though keep in mind they can only be saved as BMP files.

A Simple Yet Effective Tool

All things considered, even if Five Cellular Automata feels like it's from an older Windows version and shows everything in 2D, it's still a super useful app. It gives you a straightforward way to explore various cellular phenomena without any fuss!
