Description

Filter Designer free scientific application for the Mac OS X platform that enables you to easily design lumped element models based on Bessel, Chebyshev and Butterworth filters. Using this app, you can specify the electronic filter values and calculate the element values with just a click.

The interaction with the application is done through a plain-looking user interface where you can enter the cutoff frequency, attenuation frequency, attenuation, number of prototypes. Afterwards, click the button to calculate the low-pass prototype and view the resulting values, as well as the generated Butterworth Low-Pass Filter Prototype graph.

The application supports low-pass, high-pass, band-pass and band-stop lumped element filters. In the calculation process and before generating the Butterworth schematic, Filter Designer performs an S-Parameter analysis of the filter. In addition to this, users can also view the filter values and schematic from a separate window.

Besides being able to perform complex calculations rapidly, Filter Designer offers support for printing the prototype and the element table, response and schematic filters. Moreover, you can choose a different characteristic impedance and change the frequency unit, filter type, configuration and implementation.

To conclude, Filter Designer is quite a powerful piece of software for working with lumped element filters. It can calculate low-pass prototypes in an instant and display an intuitive Butterworth filter graph, which can be easily printed and used in your paper. On top of that, it is very easy-to-use and the memory and CPU footprint is low.
