Description

File Name Fix

Some applications can create multiple files at a time and this can lead to the name being a generic code of sorts. However, you might want to organize entire collections and have to deal with poor name formatting, but relying on specialized applications like File Name Fix can help you remove unwanted sequences and more.

Features:

  • No installation required

  • Intuitive visual design

  • Customizable file naming options

  • Easy file selection process

Technical Specifications:

  • Supports Windows operating system

  • Requires .NET Framework

  • Size: 5MB

  • Version: 1.0

On the bright side of things, the application requires no installation in order to function, which means it’s easy to carry around on a thumb drive and use on other computers. It doesn’t leave any traces in system registry entries, so the target PC remains intact. You do, however, need to make sure that .NET Framework is on the computer it’s used.

The visual design is simplistic, allowing individuals of all levels of experience to quickly get the hang of things. Most of the space is where all input files are shown with the original and new name, file path, as well as selection status for the process. Different value fields and options can be adjusted, depending on what parts you want to remove from the name.

Customizable Options:

  • Trim brackets and parenthesis

  • Convert spaces and underscores

  • Remove custom patterns

Loading a directory needs to be done through the browse dialog, with an option to include subdirectories. You can choose to process files or just folders inside the source location. Default trim options remove brackets, parenthesis, convert spaces, and trim underscores, with a simple selection triggering on or off.

The application comes with a dedicated field to remove custom patterns from the name, which can be composed of any characters. A preview is generated at the press of a button. Selection options can be used to mark, or deselect all entries, but you can also choose which files to process.

Bottom line is that file names aren’t usually in a pleasant form, especially those which are generated in a batch, or downloaded from the web. However, File Name Fix comes as a neat, fast tool to fix this, or at least remove specific characters, even though it’s not fitted with an option to add custom strings.
