Old but Gold: User Experience

Before we go any further, there's something important to note: this program hasn't been updated in a while. That means it doesn't work with the latest Windows versions. You'll notice this when you look at the interface—it has that old-school vibe.

Interface and Setup

The interface of File Guardian looks pretty basic, but it makes it easy to adjust settings as needed. You can pick which drive and folder you want to keep an eye on. Plus, there's a list of all the files in those folders so you can easily choose which ones to monitor.

Tweaking Your Settings

You have plenty of options for setting things up! You can decide how often the software checks your files—quickly or more thoroughly—and set alerts for anything suspicious. If it can't check a file, you'll get notified too! And if anything changes in your monitored files, you'll be able to save those modifications for review.

Performance and Usability

If at any point you want to turn off the automatic protection, that's totally doable! You can also check on the monitored files whenever you like. In our tests, we didn't run into any errors or crashes—everything worked smoothly without slowing down our system too much because File Guardian uses very little CPU and RAM.

A Word of Caution

The downside? Since File Guardian hasn't been updated for quite some time, it's not going to be useful for anyone using modern Windows versions. But hey, if you're using an older version of Windows, this software could still be worth checking out for keeping your personal files protected!
