Description

ffDiaporama is an open source and cross-platform application that allows users to create home movies using both video and image files. It is compatible with the GNU/Linux, Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Key features include title creation, real time previews, image filtering, Ken Burns effect, as well as over 140 transitions. It is capable of importing GIF, PNG, JPG, BMP, PBM, PGM, TIFF, XPM and XBM image file formats. The video import functionality supports the MP4, MOV, AVI, MPG, M4V and MKV file formats. It supports a wide range of forms with composite background or gradients, as well as various filtering effects.

The application allows users to reframe images, cut video clips, add text and notes to photos, animations or sequences, create animated images using Ken Burns, zoom, rotate or move effects. It’s also possible to correct luminosity, gamma, contrast and color of image and video files during animations, as well as to add background sounds. Another interesting feature is the ability to add graphical filters to both video and image files, including dust removal, black and white conversion, as well as equalization of colors.

Supported video formats include anything between QVGA (320×240) and Full HD (1920×1080). Supported aspect ratios include the 4:3, 16:9 and 2.35:1 (cinema) formats. Under the hood, we can report that the application is actually a fork of the Videoporama software rewritten entirely from scratch in the Qt programming language. Both Qt4 and Qt5 toolkits are supported at this time.

When talking about availability, we can mention that the developers provide official support for the openSUSE 13.1, openSUSE 12.3, Fedora 20, Fedora 19, as well as various Ubuntu operating systems. The application’s sources can be grabbed from Launchpad via the Bazaar version control system.
