FCOPY is a handy utility that helps you copy directory structures. It handles long names and attributes, even when you're sending them to different servers. Pretty cool, right?

How to Use FCOPY

Getting started with FCOPY is simple. Just type:

Available Options

• -d: Only copy directories.


• -nr: Skip subdirectories.


• -ns: No info screen will pop up.


• -l=: Set a log file name (default is fcopy.log).


• -lc=: Specify the max number of log files (formatted names only).


• -ll=: Set the maximum log file length in megabytes (formatted names only).


• -v: Verbose mode for more details in the log file.


• -t=: Indicate the NDS tree to log into.


• -u=: Enter your NDS user name.


• -p=: Provide your login password.


• -b=: Specify the copy buffer length in kilobytes.


• -m=: Set the maximum file name length (default is 255).


• -nb: Don’t block low priority threads.


• -no: Skip files that already exist with equal length.


• -w: Wait for a key press before exiting.

Copying to Remote Servers

If you're copying to a remote server, make sure you include the tree, user, and password options. The first time you use these parameters, FCOPY will save your user and password in a file called fcopy.pwd. After that, you can just use the tree parameter since it will pull your saved credentials from there. This feature is super helpful when working with cron jobs or ncf files!

• load fcopy user:home/joe archive:homedirs -nb


• load fcopy user:home/joe tdp1/user:home -t=tdptree -u=admin.org -p=pass -v


• load fcopy user:home/joe backup:home -l=fcopy%y%m%d%c.log -ll=50 -lc=5 -tree=tdptree
