FatFileFinder is a handy little app for OS X that helps you find those big files taking up your storage space. Built with the Electron framework, it makes the whole process super easy!
Getting started with FatFileFinder is a breeze. Just give it the path to the folder you want to check out. You can type it in yourself or hit that search button and use the Finder menu to pick your folder.
You'll love that FatFileFinder works with local folders and can connect to network storage drives too! Plus, if you have USB sticks or other removable devices, you can scan those as well (just remember, you need to point to a specific folder, not just select the drive).
This tool doesn’t just stop at top-level folders; it digs into subfolders too! You can navigate through them using arrow keys without leaving the app. And if you hover your mouse over any file entry, you'll see exactly where it's located.
The main window features a minimalist slider bar that lets you choose which files show up in your results list. While FatFileFinder doesn’t sort files by type, filtering by size is super easy!
You can set the scanner limits from 1MB all the way up to 200MB. This means you can focus on finding only those huge files while ignoring anything smaller than 1MB for better performance.
In short, FatFileFinder offers a straightforward way to identify what’s hogging your storage space without any fuss.
Just a heads-up: FatFileFinder doesn't have contextual menus for showing files in Finder and lacks options for previewing or deleting files directly from the app. You’ll need to take some extra steps if you want to manage those files!
