EZ 7z is a straightforward app for Mac OS X that makes it super easy to expand, compress, or extract different types of archives. Just a heads-up: this project isn't being developed anymore. But hey, it's backed by some solid open source stuff like 7za, unRAR, PAR2, and bzip2.
To get EZ 7z working just right, you need to mount the app's disc image first and then copy it over to your Mac. If you try to run it straight from the volume, you'll run into an error when trying to do anything.
This handy app can create and unpack a bunch of archive types like 7z, bzip2, gzip, tar, and zip. Plus, if you have split archives, no problem! You can use the Par2 button at the top of the app's toolbar to handle those easily.
You'll find that using EZ 7z is super intuitive! Just drag and drop the archive you want to expand right onto the main window or even its Dock icon. Then choose what you want to do next from the small toolbar—either view the contents or expand them directly.
If you're looking to compress files instead, just add them into EZ 7z. But keep in mind that right now, it can only handle one file at a time in each archive.
The cool thing about EZ 7z is how simple it makes expanding or compressing files—just one click does it all! Once your content is loaded into the app, hit the correct button and choose where you want your output to go. Seriously, it's super easy!
