ExLibris is a handy tool for anyone who loves to keep track of their book collection. This Mac app, which used to be called Ex-Libris, makes it super easy to store all the important details about each book you own.
The best part? ExLibris has a clean and organized user interface. When you open the app, you'll see two main areas on the screen. This layout helps you browse your database without any hassle. Plus, there's a top toolbar that gives you quick access to all your favorite tools.
If you want to add a new book, just click the “New” button at the top left corner of the window. A new panel pops up where you can fill in details like Title, Author, ISBN, Publisher, Publication Place, Published Date, Pages, Binding Type, Category, Condition, URL, Tags—you name it! You can even note if you've read it or if it's one of your favorites.
But wait—there’s more! In that same panel, you can keep track of any trades too. You can store how much you paid for a book and when you got it. If you've sold it later on, just jot down the selling price and who bought it from you. Don’t forget: you can also attach an image of the book’s cover!
The “Online Request” function is another cool feature! Just type in the book title in the search bar from the top toolbar and ExLibris will automatically fill in most details using info found online. And don’t worry—everything is still editable!
You’ll love this: there's also a Barcode Scanner tool! Use your iSight camera to scan a book's barcode and ExLibris will fetch all relevant information online based on that code.
All things considered, ExLibris is an awesome companion if you're looking for an easy way to catalog your books collection!
