ExifTags is a free programming tool designed for developers who want to give users the ability to see EXIF metadata from image files. This includes important info from digital cameras like the camera brand, the date a photo was taken, light source, and exposure settings. It works with JPEG, TIFF, and RIFF WAV formats.
This entire tool comes in a single, lightweight DLL file. When you download it, you also get a quick demo that uses a standard .NET Framework form. The demo has some buttons, a preview panel, and shows off the EXIF fields.
To run the demo smoothly, you’ll need Microsoft’s software framework installed on your computer. It’s pretty simple to open JPEG files using the built-in file browser. Once you do that, you can quickly check out all the EXIF data like ID numbers and field names along with their descriptions and values.
You can find tons of information about your images! For example, it shows details like image orientation, color space info, exposure program settings, ISO speed rating, metering mode used during shooting, sensing method employed by the camera, and white balance adjustments.
Plus, ExifTags provides additional data such as saturation levels, contrast settings, brightness adjustments and sharpness levels. You can even see subject distance range statistics along with shutter speed information!
