Description
Some extra security is always a good idea, particularly when it comes to files or data you deem noteworthy. Our reliance on computers in today’s age is indisputable, so it’d be a shame not to take the necessary steps to secure that which is important to you.
Seeking to offer a locking solution for applications, Exe Lock and Boxed Tool was made to provide efficient packing that puts an emphasis on security. It can pack an .exe file, along with everything it entails, into an executable binary which can only be accessed with a generated password.
Much of the app is self-explanatory, as the interface does a good job at cluing you in as to what each app functionality does. For clarity, the developer also includes a video tutorial within the executable which can clear up any doubts you may have.
Onto the program itself, the typical workflow consists of selecting the executable to be locked, then deciding on a lock key. Optionally, users may opt to package the new binary into a folder, as well as employ a different password convention.
As such, you can unlock your file via the Lock Key or use Hardware Binding Mode as an additional authentication step.
Hardware Binding Mode needs to be used with the Generate Login Password function to allow access. In short, you’ll first need to supply the Lock Key, then copy the machine code displayed on the window of the locked file. Upon doing so, the program will generate a password that’ll let you unlock the respective executable.
This password can be configured to some extent, insofar as a limited number of runs, as well as expiry date, can be set.
Exe Lock and Boxed Tool is straightforward enough that it feels easy to use, yet contains just enough functions to allow for an efficient encryption process.
