eul is a neat little tool for keeping an eye on your Mac's hardware! Since Apple doesn't give us much in the way of monitoring tools, it’s great to have some third-party apps that step in to help. This open-source app is built with Swift and does a fantastic job of tracking all kinds of important stuff like your CPU, GPU, memory, battery life, and even connected Bluetooth devices.
So, when you fire up eul for the first time, you’ll notice several new icons popping up in your menu bar. It comes with lots of trackers right out of the box, but don’t worry—you can turn off any that you don't find useful. You can also set how often it refreshes—choose from every 1, 3, or 5 seconds!
The font might seem a bit small at first glance. But if you're only checking one thing for each component, it becomes way easier to read. Plus, there’s a cool “single line” display option that makes everything larger and clearer.
Most folks are probably going to focus on just one or two things—like CPU temperature or network usage. With eul, you get to choose what shows up in your menu bar and which parameters you'd like to keep an eye on.
If you click on the icon in your menu bar, you'll see all the collected data laid out nicely. And if there are some components you're not interested in? No problem! You can remove them from this view too. There are also handy widgets available for monitoring CPU performance, RAM usage, network activity, and battery levels.
A lot of users care about CPU temperature since it's tricky to figure out otherwise—and it's super helpful! Right now this feature works well on Intel Macs; however, M1 support is still in the works.
All in all, eul stands out as a solid open-source hardware monitoring tool! It's efficient thanks to SwiftUI and offers plenty of customization options. Once they add full support for M1 Macs? This will definitely be at the top of everyone’s list!
