eScan Rescue Disk is pretty straightforward about what it does. This app can only be run from a storage device, which helps you scan one or more computers for any potential threats hiding in the operating system. Scanning your PC this way is actually better because it can check everything without skipping parts that might be in use.
The bootable image of eScan comes with a preloaded Windows environment. So, when you open it up, all the commands and functions will look familiar to you. Once you're in the app menu, you get to choose what areas of your machine you want to scan.
If you've got a hunch about something suspicious or just want to double-check an area, eScan lets you tick off the boxes for the parts you'd like to inspect. You can pick memory, drive, system folders, registry, or startup folders depending on what you're trying to achieve. If your computer has more than one drive, you can select just one specific drive or go for the 'All Local Drives' option.
After you've set up where to scan, it's time to choose how you'd like to proceed. Do you want to check for spyware? Maybe access some scan archives? Or do a quick and simple scan? This really depends on your needs at that moment. When the scanning process is done, you'll have the option to generate or view a complete list of any viruses or threats found.
You can also check out a log that explains what steps the app took before finding any threats. Just remember that anytime you want to run an analysis again, you'll need to click the Scan & Clean button! For those who need more control over specific actions, there’s also a CMD terminal available.
The update feature is super handy too! With new threats popping up all the time, having eScan keep its database fresh ensures you're always protected as best as possible.
