Description

Sometimes, even the most complex tasks often start with a simple to-do list. That's exactly why to-do list apps are so popular, on both desktop and mobile platforms.

Errands is one such app, a task manager that's all about enhancing productivity and keeping one's focus on track. Originally named List, Errands is a complete rewrite.

While List was a stripped-down to-do list app with next to no features (apart from the option to switch system themes), Errands takes things a bit further with a new GUI, a lot more organization options (for the tasks), as well as a lot more customization possibilities.

One of the best things about Errands is the fact that it allows users to create task lists. Tasks can be (individually) edited and have support for sub-tasks. Of course, tasks can also be added, removed, and marked as completed (sub-tasks as well), and even be further organized using accent colors and tags.

All of these features make Errands very convenient for people who want to use it for more complex projects.

Even though there's not much in terms of GUI tweaking options, I found Errand's GUI to be perfectly adequate for what it was made for. The layout is a pretty standard one with a list of tasks on the right panel, and the task editor on the right.

The Preferences section of the app is decent as well. Users are provided with options for changing the GUI themes, the position of the task lists, as well as a bit of control over how notifications are displayed and how the app runs (run in the background, launch on startup, and so forth).

One of the biggest improvements over its previous iterations is the fact that Errands now offers the ability to synchronize tasks across multiple devices. This is done thanks to support for Nextcloud, as well as other CalDAV providers. Last but not least, Errands also allows users to import .ics files.

I found Errands to be a very good app for what it is. Of course, it all depends on what everyone needs and wants from an app such as this. For me, the fact that the app added a lot more options (when compared to its previous iteration, List) is a big bonus.

What I liked most about this app is that it offers a decent amount of features, all while not feeling or looking too complicated. In short, it strikes a good balance between simplicity and "power."
