EarthBrowser
EarthBrowser is a cool app that shows you a 3D model of our planet. You get to see clouds, earthquakes, and all kinds of other physical stuff happening around the globe. Plus, it even gives you a weather forecast!
Easy-to-Use Interface
The interface is really user-friendly. You can easily maximize the main window to full screen for a better view and more control.
Interactive Globe Features
Want to spin the globe? Just use your mouse! You can rotate it around and zoom in or out on places that interest you with the scroll wheel.
Toggle Display Modes
You can switch between different display modes to see things like:
- Clouds
- Doppler radar
- Tectonic plates and volcanoes
- Earthquakes
- NWS warnings
- Tropical storms
- Pano photos and webcams
- Oceans buoys
- Borders (US and international)
- Wildfires in the US and Canada
- Weather forecasts
- Aurora activity!
Create Custom Placemarkers
You can set new placemarks by entering latitude, longitude, and a description (it could be HTML, URL, or just text). The app also lets you open KML or KMZ files, take snapshots of what you see, change the UI language, clear the cache, optimize the database, and search for locations.
Performance Insights
EarthBrowser uses low CPU but may take up some memory. Sometimes it takes a bit to load everything based on what settings you've chosen. But don’t worry; we tested it out and didn’t run into any crashes or freezes! Just keep in mind that it hasn’t had an update in a while.
