DS_Store Cleaner is a handy tool for getting rid of those annoying .DS_Store files that pop up when you use Mac OS X Finder. If you're a Mac user, you probably know how these little files can be a pain when you're sharing folders.
These files used to be a security issue in older versions of Mac OS X because they stored system info. Luckily, this problem was fixed starting from Mac OS X 10.1! But even though they aren't a security risk anymore, they can still cause trouble.
When you move files to other systems like Windows or Linux, those pesky .DS_Store files become visible and clutter things up. If you're burning a CD, guess what? Yep, they show up there too!
You've got two simple ways to clean these guys out using DS_Store Cleaner. First off, if you're on Mac OS X or Windows, just drag the folder you want to clean onto the app icon. Easy peasy!
Once you drop your folder on the icon, DS_Store Cleaner will kick in and start cleaning up not just that folder but also any subfolders it has. Once it's done doing its thing, an alert box will pop up telling you how many .DS_Store files were deleted.
If dragging isn't your style, no worries! You can double-click the app icon or run it through the Java version's script. Just select the folder you want cleaned when prompted and let DS_Store Cleaner take care of the rest!
You'll get another alert box once it's finished cleaning up all those annoying .DS_Store files from your chosen folder and its subfolders.
