DriveCleaner is a super handy tool that helps you clean up your thumb drives and other removable media. It gets rid of those annoying invisible files that your Mac creates on FAT drives, like ._ resource fork files, .DS_Store files, and folders such as .fseventsd, .Spotlight-V100, and .Trashes that hang out at the root level of your drive.
Installing DriveCleaner is a breeze! Just drag it into your Applications folder and then pull it up to your Finder toolbar for easy access.
To clean up a drive with DriveCleaner, open the drive you want to tidy up. Then just click on the DriveCleaner icon in your toolbar. Easy peasy!
If you ever forget to put DriveCleaner in the Finder toolbar, no worries! You can launch it using Spotlight instead. Just make sure the window for the root folder of the drive you want to clean is active when you do this.
