Description
Drive Write Checker
Hard drives are like cars. Whenever you buy a used one, you'll always have questions about the authenticity of the registered miles. In case you acquired a second-hand drive, be that an HDD, an SSD, or a pen drive, and you're curious about how many writes/reads it has been subjected to, you should check Drive Write Checker out — a lightweight utility that identifies the number of R/W and applies a score to your drive.
Features:
- Easily check the number of reads/writes on your drive
- Get a score assigned to your drive for usage levels
- No installation process required
- Quick and simple to use
- Supports multiple types of drives
Specifications:
- Price: FREE
- Publisher: Cristoforo Bonissone
- Scanning times proportional to drive size and type
- Single drive focus for accurate results
Drive Write Checker won't require an actual installation process. Unzip the archive, and launch the program freely. The small windows that pop up will contain the letters of your drive/s and the Start and Stop buttons.
Simply select the drive you want to scan, and click Start. Scanning multiple drives at once is not a possibility here, as the tools must focus on a single drive in order to output accurate results.
The scanning times are proportional to the size and type of your drive. If you run an SSD, the scanning time will be quicker, in comparison with an HDD.
After the scanning process is completed, the exact number of reads/writes will be displayed at the bottom of the interface. Also, a score will be assigned to the drive, but that seems kind of random, as there is no way to check the min-max values. Still, the developer specifies that a lower score is better.
In the end, Drive Write Checker is a quick and simple way to check the usage levels for multiple types of drives. No matter if you've just purchased a used SSD, or you're curious about your old HDD's number of reads/writes, this application can help you regardless.
