Description

DirectFB FOR MAC

DirectFB is an awesome library that helps developers boost graphics performance. It gives you hardware graphics acceleration and comes with its own windowing system. That means you can enjoy cool features like translucent windows and handle input devices easily. Plus, it supports multiple display layers on top of the Linux Framebuffer.

What Makes DirectFB Stand Out?

This library is a complete hardware abstraction layer, which means it has software backups for any graphics tasks that your hardware can’t handle. DirectFB really pumps up the graphical capabilities of embedded systems and sets a new standard for graphics on Linux.

Resource Management

One neat thing about DirectFB is its resource management for video memory. You can lock resources like display layers or input devices for exclusive access, which is super handy when you're into fullscreen gaming.

Graphics Operations You Can Do

With DirectFB, you can perform a bunch of different graphics operations, including:

  • Filling and drawing rectangles

  • Filling and drawing triangles

  • Line drawing

  • Flat shaded triangles

  • Simple blitting

  • Stretched blitting

  • Textured triangles (that look perspective correct)

  • Blending using an alpha channel (per pixel alpha)

  • Blending with an alpha factor (alpha modulation)

  • Nine different blend functions for source and destination

  • Support for Porter/Duff rules

  • Prenultiplied alpha support

  • Colorized blitting (color modulation)

  • The ability to key colors from the source or destination

Simplified API Design

The API and structure of DirectFB are designed to make things easier for developers implementing various parts such as:

  • The latest in graphics acceleration (supports stuff like Matrox G200/G400/G450/G550, ATI128, Voodoo 3, NeoMagic, Savage, and CyberPro)

  • Diverse input devices (like keyboards, serial and PS/2 mice, joysticks)

  • An image provider that supports PNG, GIF, and JPEG formats

  • A video provider that works with Video4Linux, AVI (using avifile), MPEG1/2 (using libmpeg3), and even Flash via libflash!

  • A font provider featuring DirectFB bitmap fonts and TrueType fonts through FreeType 2!
