Getting Started with DexProtector

Since it's built on the Java platform, make sure you have Java installed on your Mac first. To get going, just launch the DexProtector-GUI.app.

User-Friendly Interface

The interface of DexProtector is really well organized. At the top, you can easily choose both your source APK file and where you want the output to go. You'll also need to tell it where your Android SDK is located. Plus, don't forget to pick a sign mode: Debug or Release. If you're going for Release, you'll have to set up a keystore/key alias and passwords for both options.

Encrypt Your Data

One of the great features of DexProtector is that it lets you encrypt strings, classes, and resources using a modified AES algorithm. You can even use annotations or filters here, and guess what? You can create your own filters too!

Hide Access with Experimental Features

This app has an experimental feature that helps hide access by concealing API calls. You can save your current setup and then just hit the "Run" button to kick off the protection process. If you want to keep an eye on everything happening, make sure to check the box that says "Print verbose output to console."

Unusable if Modified

Not only does DexProtector encrypt data, but it also injects code that makes your protected APK project unusable if someone tries to modify it—it simply won't work!
