DeskTiles is a handy little tool that brings the fun of Windows 8 tiles to earlier versions of Windows. If you've ever wished for those cool tiles on your desktop, this is your answer!
What Can DeskTiles Do?
With DeskTiles, you get to pick which tiles you want to show up on your desktop. You have a bunch of options like:
- Show Desktop: Hides all other tiles so you can see your clear desktop, but you can still access them using a notify icon.
- My Computer: Opens up My Computer for easy access.
- Recycle Bin: Lets you jump straight to the Recycle Bin.
- Date & Time: Displays the current date and time right on your desktop.
- Power Options: Quick links to log off, restart, or shut down your computer.
- Control Panel: Opens the Control Panel in a snap.
- Internet Explorer: Launches Internet Explorer with just one click.
- User Picture: Shows your profile picture along with your username.
- Calendar: Keep track of dates by showing a calendar on the screen.
- Notepad: Opens Notepad so you can jot down quick notes anytime.
- Memory Information: Displays total and available physical memory as well as virtual memory details.
- Start Menu: Gives quick access to the Start Menu whenever you need it.
- YouTube & Google Search: Search directly from these popular sites without opening a browser first!
- User Info: Shows operating system details and the user's name at a glance.
- Create Notes: Click on the notes tile and start writing without any fuss!
- User Links: Direct links to sites like AskVG, Facebook, DeviantArt, WinMatrix, Softpedia, Google+, Twitter, and Tweaks.com!
- Clipboard: Displays current clipboard text and even lets you clear it out if needed!
- Wallpaper: Shows what wallpaper you're using right now!
- Media Player: Play MP3 songs directly without needing another player open!
- System Storage: Displays four drives with labels, free space available, and clean progress bars for easy monitoring!
