Day & Night is a cool little app for your Mac that makes changing your desktop wallpaper super easy. It helps you feel more productive by picking the right colors for the time of day, which can really help with eye strain when you're at your computer.

Why Use Day & Night?

This handy macOS utility lives quietly in your Mac's status bar and automatically switches between two wallpapers based on whether it’s day or night—just like its name suggests! So when the sun comes up, Day & Night will change to a lighter wallpaper that you can easily select from your hard drive. You can either click through the wallpaper selection screen or just drag and drop an image onto the app’s window.

How Does It Work?

As the sun sets, this app will switch to a darker wallpaper that you get to choose too! Besides using sunrise and sunset times, Day & Night lets you set custom hours for when you want it to switch wallpapers. This is perfect if you have specific times in mind!

Permissions Needed

The first time you fire up Day & Night on your Mac, it needs permission to access your location. This helps it track those sunrise and sunset times all by itself. If you forget to give permissions at first, no worries—you can still turn them on later in System Preferences under Security & Privacy > Privacy > Location Services.

Premium Features

If you're looking for even more features, there's a Premium version! It lets you change wallpapers on all your monitors at once, plus run Unix commands or AppleScript scripts. This means you can even toggle dark mode on and off with ease!

A Few Minor Issues

Even though Day & Night is super useful, it does have a few small flaws. For example, there’s a Services menu that doesn’t seem to add much value—it might be best if they just remove it altogether.
