What is DataMatrix Encoder SDK/ActiveX?

Data Matrix Encoder SDK

Data Matrix Encoder SDK is a super handy tool for creating Data Matrix codes, which are those cool two-dimensional barcodes you see everywhere. These codes are made up of black and white squares arranged in patterns, either square or rectangular. They can store a lot of info—up to 2,335 characters of text, 3,116 digits, or 1,556 bytes! How neat is that?

What Can You Do with Data Matrix Codes?

The length of the data you can encode depends on the size of the barcode you choose. Plus, there’s an error correction feature built in! This means even if part of the code gets damaged or scratched, it can still be read easily.

Features of the SDK

The SDK comes packed with features like:

  • Create Data Matrix barcode symbols from alpha/numeric text/binary.

  • Output barcode images in various formats like BMP, GIF, JPEG, and PNG.

  • Render barcode images on different devices and adjust for device resolution.

  • Full control over styles such as background color and bar color.

  • Support for Reed-Solomon error correction to keep your data safe!

  • Select encoding modes like ASCII, C40, TEXT, and BASE 256.

Understanding ActiveX

ActiveX, by Microsoft, is a set of programming tools that help create components for your software projects. Think of these components as tiny programs that can run anywhere on your network. They work well across Windows and Macintosh systems too!

The Benefits of ActiveX Components

A big perk? These components are reusable! Multiple applications can use them (we call those component containers). You can build these ActiveX controls using various languages like C++, Visual Basic, or even VBScript!

Using the ActiveX Library

You can use the ActiveX library to develop applications or integrate it into other apps like Internet Explorer or Microsoft Office. Tools like Microsoft Visual C++ and Borland Delphi support this too!

Limitations to Keep in Mind

Limitations:

  • If you're using the 2D barcode encoder/decoder SDK, some inputs might get replaced with '*' when encoding.

  • The trial version lasts only 30 days—make sure to uninstall it after that period!
