Description
Data Mining
Data Mining is a handy tool designed to help you find how many times a specific string shows up in a large text. To get started, you just need to open a text file and type in the string you're looking for. It’s super straightforward!
Saving Your Searches
The app remembers your last 28 searches when you close it, so you won’t lose your place! When you come back, everything is right where you left off. If you're using the Ad Hoc search feature, simply type your search string into the Ad Hoc String field and hit the "Ad Hoc" button. The results will pop up right above that button.
Using Find Feature
Keep in mind, though, that the Ad Hoc String doesn’t save between sessions. No worries! There’s also a Find feature available. Just enter your string into the Find field and click on the "Find" button. This will scroll the window to show where that string is located (you'll see it just above the red line). You can also click on "Find Next" to jump through all occurrences of your string.
Total Characters & Reset Options
You’ll see how many characters are in your text displayed at all times. If you need a fresh start, just click on the "Reset" button to clear everything: text window, Hits count, and both Ad Hoc and Find strings. Or if you're only looking to clear out Hits, use the "Clear Hits" button.
Search Sensitivity & Speed
The searches are case-sensitive—so remember that “Software” is not the same as “software”! One of the coolest things about Data Mining is its speed; searching through one million characters for 28 strings takes about a second! And if you ever get stuck, there's always a Help window available.
