cTiVo is a super handy Mac app that helps you easily find all the TiVo devices hooked up to your network using something called the Bonjour protocol. It lets you transfer your favorite video captures right onto your Mac. Plus, it can even help convert those video files into formats that work with different devices!
When you first launch cTiVo, it automatically scans your network to find compatible TiVo devices. It works with a bunch of models, like Roamio, Premiere, S3, S2, and HD. If you've got one of these devices at home, you're in luck!
If you need to connect to a remote TiVo, no problem! Just head over to the cTiVo Preferences window and type in the IP address. Easy peasy!
The main window of cTiVo shows you all the available content on your TiVo. You can pick what you want to download straight to your desktop. You also have control over where those files go and how they’re formatted—options include Apple TV, DVD, H.264, iPhone or iPod compatible formats, QuickTime, MPEG, and more.
cTiVo keeps track of each download's status for you so that you know what's happening at all times! Plus, if you're subscribed to any shows, cTiVo will automatically grab each new episode and sync it right to your iPhone or iPad.
This app has some cool features too! It can mark commercials for easy skipping during playback or even remove them completely if that's what you prefer. And don't worry; if it removes commercials, it recreates subtitle files without any issues.
cTiVo's got some great metadata processing tools built-in as well! You can import recordings directly into iTunes and sync them across other devices. And guess what? It can manage multiple TiVos at once too!
