What is CPUD FOR MAC?

CPU Director

CPU Director is a handy tool that lets you check out and tweak the cache and processor clock speed settings on your PowerLogix upgrade card. It comes with cool utilities that let you enable or disable the cache whenever you want, change how fast your backside cache works, and even set it to automatically turn on at boot time.

Manage Processor Speed Easily

If you're using an IBM 750FX or 750GX processor with your upgrade, you're in luck! You can change the processor clock speed right when you need it. Plus, you can set how fast the processor will be when you reboot. There are also options to turn off speculative access (which can be a problem for older machines that didn’t originally come with G3 or G4 processors) and enable dynamic power management.

Settings for Multiple Processors

For those of you running Mac OS X with multiple processors, CPU Director lets you view and adjust these settings for each processor individually. This makes it super easy to customize your setup!

Simple Installation Process

Getting started with CPU Director is a breeze! Just drag the CPU Director folder onto your hard drive. Although it's best to put it in your /Applications/ folder, feel free to place it wherever you'd like on your drive.

No Fuss Installation Steps

You need to drag the whole CPU Director folder—not just the app itself—onto your hard drive. Once that’s done, double-click on the CPU Director application to start it up, and it’ll take care of installing everything else automatically.

Admin Password Required

If you're installing this software on Mac OS X, don’t forget that you'll need an administrator password because a KEXT and Startup Item will be installed. The good news? You don’t have to reboot! You can dive right into using CPU Director as soon as it's installed.

Configuring Your Settings

After installation, it's time to configure your cache settings for your upgrade card. To make changes in Mac OS X, just click on the security lock icon in the upper right corner of the window until it unlocks.

Password Protection for Changes

You’ll be asked for an admin password if you're making any changes because of security reasons. But if you're using Mac OS 9, no special authentication is needed!

Tweaking Your Upgrade Card Settings

Now comes the fun part—adjusting your upgrade card settings! Choose what ratio works best for you, decide whether to enable or disable speculative access, turn dynamic power management on or off, and if you've got 750FX/750GX upgrades, pick out what PLL settings you want.
