Description

When it comes to productivity, there's no one be-all and end-all solution. Some people prefer productivity apps, others prefer simple time management methods, timers, and even counters.

A good counting app may not seem like much, but for some people, it works wonders as it puts things into perspective by providing a visual sense of progression.

If you're one of those people, you can check out Counters, a Linux-only free and open-source app that allows you to basically track anything.

As its name states, Counters is a basic counting app. The thing that makes counters appealing is its simplicity. When it comes to productivity apps (at least in my experience), the simpler the better. You know, simpler usually means fewer distractions.

Hence, Counters allows you to add multiple counters in order to track daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly goals. I also like the fact that it looks rather at home on GNOME even though the app doesn't follow the official GNOME Code of Conduct.

In terms of features, there's really not much to talk about. The app features basic streak counting, as well as automatic resets for every daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly counter.

Last but not least, the app provides you with the option of exporting data to CSV format, which could (arguably) prove handy if you're also interested in logging your progress for long periods of time.

I think that Counters is a nice little app, but that's mostly because I really enjoy simple apps that do simple tasks. Sure, there are a plethora of arguments for using something more focused and more feature-packed when it comes to your productivity, but as I mentioned before, the fewer the distractions, the better the app (in my opinion, at least).
