Operating this piece of kit is a quite simple job, that even less experienced users can carry out with minimal efforts. All you will have to do is browse the disk to select the two folders that will be analyzed then press the 'Compare' button.

Optionally, you can configure the comparison process by choosing whether the file extensions are shown or not. Unfortunately, there are no other customizations you can make and there is also a downside that has to be mentioned, namely the fact that subfolders are not taken into consideration when performing the check.

After the analysis is complete, you will get a list with all the files inside the checked directories and those which are missing from one of them will be marked. This check is applied in order to make it more easy for you to copy those items to the other folder or delete them altogether.

On the whole, Compare Folders does its job quite well, but there are some shortcomings that could make many users look somewhere else for a more customizable solution that is capable, at least, to look inside subdirectories as well.
