Description

CMS Made Simple is an open source and free web-based application that allows users to effortlessly manage the content of their static websites. It is a Content Management System (CMS) software with a twist.

The application lets users update their web pages, requires minimal hardware components, it’s highly extensible (thanks to its module API), runs on top of a dedicated web server, and includes a wizard-based install/upgrade system.

Key features include group and user management, a group-based permission system, an intelligent caching mechanism, easy management of users and groups, highly extensible design, support for templates, SEO-friendly URLs, integrated documentation, as well as an admin panel that offers support for multiple languages.

The software also integrates a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, a content hierarchy system, self-generating menus, a file manager, an audit log, as well as news and RSS (Rich Site Summary) modules. It’s modular and offers a group-based permission system.

It is extremely easy to install the CMS Made Simple application on your web server, as all you have to do, after downloading the latest release, saving it on your Home directory and unpacking the TAR archive, is to open a graphical FTP client, connect to your server and upload all the files and folders from the extracted directory to the root of your web server, or into a folder.

Then, you must open a web browser and point it to the location of the CMS Made Simple files (e.g. http://www.softpedia.com/ or http://www.softpedia.com/cms/ or http://www.softpedia.com/cmsmadesimple). Please note that the application is independent of an operating system (GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, BSD, Solaris, Mac OS X, Android, iOS) or computer platform (32-bit, 64-bit).
