Clearer is a handy little app designed to wipe away all those pesky history files that Delphi leaves behind after you finish your projects. If you've ever worked with Delphi, you know it can leave a mess!
This tool supports various file types like .dsk
, .bak
, .tmp
, .pdb
, .identcache
, and .local
-formatted files. Plus, you can even add new file types that you want to include!
The interface is super simple and minimalistic. It shows you all the supported file types, allows you to remove any of them from the task list, and even lets you add new ones just by typing in the extension.
When you open a BDS project or a folder with your Delphi project files, Clearer automatically detects everything inside! You’ll see the full path for each file so that you can choose which ones to delete while keeping others safe.
If you're feeling extra tidy, this tool can also help clear out your AppData! The whole process usually doesn’t take long—just depending on how many files are left hanging around. Once it's done, head over to your Delphi directory to see how clean it is!
The best part? There’s no setup required! Clearer is portable. Just drop the downloaded files into any folder on your disk or even onto a USB drive so you can use it anywhere without any fuss.
This app doesn’t mess with your system registry or create random files on your HDD without asking for permission first. However, do keep in mind that it needs the .NET Framework because it was built using this platform.
During our tests, we found that Clearer didn’t slow down our computer at all! Tasks were quick and efficient, successfully removing those leftover Delphi bits from the disk.
But here’s a heads up—sometimes it froze up when we tried opening project files. This might be due to Clearer not being updated for quite some time, which could cause compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows.
