WindowManager is a handy little app that makes managing your app windows a breeze. Instead of wasting time manually arranging and resizing them, you can streamline your workflow and take full control over your window management presets.
When you launch the app, you'll notice its icon popping up in the status bar. Just a heads-up: you only need to click it when you want to access the Preferences. You can also open the panel by using a default global hotkey: Option + Command + S.
One cool feature of WindowManager is its seven predefined hot zones. What does that mean? It’s simple! Just drag a window over these areas to make it go full screen or fit into one of the corners or halves of your display.
You might notice that while dragging windows towards these hot zones, they don’t really show up visually. That can be a bit tricky at first since there are no signals to indicate where they are located on your screen.
No worries though! In the WindowManager Preferences, you have options to ignore edges and borders if you want. You can also select which hot zones are active and even set up a custom screen grid by adjusting rows and columns.
Another great feature? You can create your own custom window layouts! Give them unique names and assign keyboard shortcuts that work system-wide. This means managing your windows can be done without dragging and dropping every single time.
With WindowManager, resizing and rearranging windows is super easy! Whether you're using those predefined hot zones or your own custom layouts with assigned hotkeys, it’s all about making your life easier.
The best part is that WindowManager works with most macOS applications, even some that don’t use standard windows! However, just keep in mind there might be certain utilities where it doesn’t quite fit in.
